Tomorrow we start the 12 Days of Christmas challenge. The goal of this challenge is to get us active during the holiday season. The average person gains 7-10 lbs (3.1 – 4.5 kg) during the Christmas Season. We are saying NO to holiday weight gain by exercising and practicing portion control.
Don’t throw your healthy eating habit out of the window just because it’s Christmas. There is nothing wrong with enjoying yourself during this season, but if you are going to go outside of your healthy eating habit, be aware of how much you are eating and practice portion control.
To keep our exercising on track, we have this 12 day Challenge we think will get everyone on the move to continue to workout. Remember, these challenges are just to help supplement what you are already doing – by providing us all with group motivation and support.
As we always say, consult your doctor before beginning a new exercise regimen.
The challenge works just like the “12 Days of Christmas” song:
Day 1: You will do a 1 minute plank
Day 2: You will do 25 burpees and a 1 minute Plank (or a 1 minute plank first and 25 burpees – your choice)
Day 3: You will do a 1 minute plank, plus 25 burpees, plus 15 push ups
and so on…….
Take breaks as necessary.
EXTRA CHALLENGE: If you feel you are able, you can do the entire 12 days challenge every day. It should take about 12-15 minutes each day to do the entire thing depending on your speed. It will be a great daily workout for 12 days.
